THE MODELING INDUSTRY

 

The modeling industry can be very competitive. If you are looking to impress and get the attention from casting directors, photographers, creative directors, producers, etc., you need to start with a professional portfolio and a comp card. Your photos are a true impression of yourself as a model. They are going to see these images before they even choose you to see you in person. Build a strong, powerful and impressive portfolio. It is not the number of photos but the quality of these photos. Your portfolio should have from 6 to 12 photos, especially when you are presenting yourself to an agency.  A established model should have 10 to 25 photos.

 

It is important to know what TYPE of modeling you can do. For a starting model it is recommended a variety of looks and styles. Once you find the modeling style or look you are best at then you can make your portfolio to show a specific part of modeling. For example if you are more of a high fashion model then your portfolio should have more high fashion (if not all) images, and so on.

 

To avoid any setbacks or rejections be realistic. Talk to your family, friends, etc. Do not attempt to model or enter a type of modeling that is not best suited for you.

 

What is a portfolio?

 

A portfolio is a collection of your best photos in one binder (book). These images represent your looks and styles. It should demonstrate your ability to portray different characters, age ranges and personalities. They MUST be different from each other. These shots must include (but not limited to).

 

-High Fashion

-Commercial

-Editorial

-Sports

-Fitness (if you are a fitness model)

-Fine Art

 

What is a comp card?

 

A composite card is a one (double sided) card with images of you. The front side is a headshot (so your face is clear) with your name and the backside can contain from 3 to 4 pictures of you (small) showing different looks and styles. It also should include your stats (Age, Height, Weight, Chest, Shoes, Inseam, etc.) for designers and casting directors to see. A comp card is a business card for models.

DF Productions works with aspiring actors and models. We will train you and give you the basic tools during the entire process. Each photo sessions is individual. You will be given a list of clothes to bring for specific style and looks. You might be in need of a hair stylist and/or make up artist if you are a female model. We can provide this at an additional cost. Sitting and photo shoot fees do not include HMU (Hair/Makeup).

-Applicant MUST qualify for modeling. Industry standards. Please be aware of it before you start building your portfolio.

-Applicant understands this offer is only for ONE-hour session.

-Applicant understands there is a $5.00 processing fee when using the PAY NOW option.

-Applicant can use other payment option (Cash, Chase QuickPay, Zelle or Facebook Instant Messenger). There are processing fees. No personal checks.

-Applicant can change outfits (up to three times).

-Applicant understand this is an outdoor session.

-Applicant will receive 15 final digital photos. Ready for 8x10 printing.

-Applicant understands these files are copyright protected and can not be modified in any form, cropped, color modified, these photos cannot be shared on any social media platform. Applicant can request small jpeg files for personal use and online sharing.

-Applicant understands these photos can ONLY be used as part of a modeling portfolio. They are not for commercial use. These cannot be sold for profit.

-Applicant understands he/she is responsible for makeup, hair and clothing selection.

-Applicant agrees to pay for photo session in advance. This fee already includes sitting fees. This non-refundable $100 payment is final. Prints not included.

-Applicant understands photo session can be rescheduled in advance (not on the same day). Must give 48 hrs. notice.

-Applicant understands first photo session is booked in advance (one week minimum).

-Applicant must be on time and prepared for the photo shoot.

-Applicant can buy 2 or more hours in advance. They can be booked and used independently or at once.

To book a photo session you must pay a $100. This will allow us to save a spot for you.
